Winter peas

A source of vegetable protein, peas are mainly used in animal feed. Outlets for human food and as an ingredient are growing rapidly. Sown between late October and mid-December, and harvested in June-July, winter peas facilitate the work schedule, as their sowing and harvesting dates are staggered in relation to wheat, rapeseed and the main spring crops. Peas are one of the best precedents for wheat and rapeseed, helping to regulate the diseases of the dominant crops and controlling weeds throughout the rotation. By taking nitrogen from the air through symbiotic bacteria in the nodules of its roots, winter pea requires no nitrogen fertilizer, leaving nitrogen for the following crop and a well-structured soil.
