Terres Inovia supports the development of oilseed crops, legumes and hemp to contribute to food security and national sovereignty in oil and plant proteins.
Identifying risks
Terres Inovia is committed to recognizing and prioritizing production limiting factors. It organizes crop monitoring to identify agronomic risks and diagnose the importance, frequency and potential impact of various pathogens and pests.
Developing high-performance varieties
Terres Inovia contributes to the availability of new varieties adapted to market expectations and farmers' performance objectives.
In concrete terms, the institute guides and supports the development of varieties with high protein content and diversified fatty acid profiles, by supporting breeding with its knowledge of diseases and pests.
It also evaluates and recommends the varieties best suited to production constraints and industry needs.
Designing technical itineraries
Terres Inovia develops technical itineraries to improve the production and economic performance of conventional and organic farming systems.
The technical institute's experts study the behavior of crops to identify the obstacles to their development, and experiment with all the levers available to find solutions.
In this way, they seek to limit the impact of biotic stresses (diseases, pests, weeds) on yield and quality, and design itineraries adapted to conditions in different production basins.
To improve crop management, Terres Inovia also evaluates innovations and develops digital tools.
Improving sanitary quality
Terres Inovia ensures quality and health safety within the industry. The technical institute assesses seed quality at harvest. In this way, it monitors the nutritional quality of rapeseed, sunflower and soybean cakes produced in French crushing plants, and promotes them to animal feed manufacturers.
The research organization also monitors emerging contaminants that may affect food safety.
It also leads standardization work to ensure that standards benefit from the latest technical advances and meet user needs.
Diversifying outlets
Terres Inovia diversifies outlets and develops innovative seed treatment processes.
To this end, it deploys analytical tools and disseminates information on the quality of French production to market operators. It develops the best combinations of seed processing techniques to increase the nutritional efficiency of oilcakes and other protein-rich materials.
It also supports the development of local processing units.
By assessing the nutritional and biological quality of processed products, it contributes to the development of food and non-food uses.
