Semi-permanent cover on the Syppre Picardie platform

On the Syppre platform in Picardy, an industrial vegetable was historically grown. Due to recurring problems (birds, water stress), it was decided to stop growing this crop in 2022 on both systems, and to plant rapeseed, combined with a semi-permanent cover in the innovative system.

On the Syppre platform in Picardy, an industrial vegetable was historically grown. Due to recurring problems (birds, water stress), it was decided to stop growing this crop in 2022 on both systems, and to plant rapeseed, combined with a semi-permanent cover in the innovative system.

To meet the platform's various challenges (carbon storage, reduced nitrogen dependency, reduced tillage, organic matter enrichment, etc.), the industrial vegetable has been replaced by rapeseed since 2023. This change opened up an opportunity to experiment with a new technical itinerary on the innovative system, contributing to the objectives of improving soil fertility: planting a semi-permanent cover crop at the same time as the rapeseed, which could theoretically remain in place for almost three years.
