The challenges
Accelerating innovation and adaptation of agricultural production systems is necessary in a context of accelerated change due to climate change and rising environmental challenges. This is particularly true for the development of biosolutions (biocontrol and biostimulants), whose effectiveness in the field is sometimes partial and variable depending on their conditions of use.
To define their field of use, it is important to describe in detail the conditions under which the products are used (soil, climate, technical itineraries, etc.) and to pool data from a variety of production situations. To meet this challenge, the project partners are pooling their expertise in formalizing and deploying best practices in data management, metadata and descriptors.
The objectives
The STAR project is at the crossroads of three sectors: vineyards, oilseed crops and market gardening. Its aim is to remove the obstacles to sharing and pooling experimental data (collected by experimenters according to defined protocols on controlled devices) and technical data (i.e. data describing the technical itineraries implemented on the farm). To this end, semantic web techniques will be mobilized to propose standards aimed at standardizing and making interoperable the various data sources used to exhaustively describe the contexts in which experiments are carried out and the results obtained.
Expected results
- Propose adaptable data models associated with controlled vocabularies to obtain interoperable data (variable thesauri, etc.).
- Co-construct with experimenters simple, practical tools for exploring, enriching, validating and producing complete, standardized data sets.
- Disseminate, raise awareness, train and support players
The role of Terres Inovia
Partner
- On task 1: acculturation to computer formats and web-semantic tools, contribution to the implementation of data and variable models, production of a variable thesaurus.
- Task 2: development and coding of data conformity analysis tools, production of standard reports and data visualization tools, development of access codes for common resources (meteorological, pedological data, etc.).
- Task 3: contribution to the dissemination of best practices and operational deliverables: production of popularization tools (tutorials, etc.), organization of webinars and training courses.
