The Issues
The ARPEGE project is part of a broader societal and environmental effort aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions from agricultural practices, their impact on biodiversity, and the use of inputs, as well as ensuring the traceability of these practices.
The objectives
The ARPEGE project aims to structure and develop sustainable agricultural supply chains based on the principles of regenerative agriculture. Through a collaborative effort bringing together cooperatives, manufacturers, technical institutes, and startups, the project seeks to test, co-develop, and disseminate innovative solutions to strengthen the resilience of agricultural supply chains, support committed producers, and offer high-value-added products.
Expected results
• The creation of agricultural supply chains that meet Axereal’s regenerative agriculture specifications and are structured primarily around peas.
• An increase in production volumes in accordance with sustainable specifications (up to 30,000 metric tons by 2026).
• Improvements in agricultural practices: stable yields, crop quality, and resilient crop rotations.
• Developing technical tools to support farmers (protocols, diagnostics, monitoring).
• Reducing manufacturers’ carbon footprint through sustainable sourcing.
• Promoting producers committed to the initiative and products derived from regenerative agriculture as defined by Axereal.
The Role of Terres Inovia
Partner:
The institute is involved in several aspects of the project, including the characterization of agricultural systems, stress management (biotic and abiotic), the development of resilient crop rotations, and the assessment of crop quality. Terres Inovia will also contribute to training technicians, farmers, and students on integrating legumes into crop rotations and on strategies for diversifying agricultural practices.
