They talk about it
A graduate of ISA Lille, Laura Cipolla is a development engineer in Auvergne Rhône-Alpes. Passionate about the field, she enjoys being in contact with it, with a job that touches on human beings and societal, climatic and economic issues.
"After a scientific baccalaureate, I entered a post-baccalaureate engineering school (ISA Lille). During this five-year course, I did a number of internships that convinced me to work in the agricultural sector.
As a development engineer at a research institute, there's never a dull moment, and no two days are alike! Part of my job involves responding to various requests from agricultural advisors or farmers for technical information on a crop. Sometimes there's a lot of research to be done, including calling on the Institute's other areas of expertise. I also carry out data analysis and write articles for the Presse Agricole Départementale.
In the field, I organize events, such as visits to trials of varieties present in the region. I also regularly visit plots at different times of the season and stages of the crop, often in the presence of agricultural advisors, to check for pest or disease damage, to characterize the state of crop establishment, such as the presence of nodules in pulses, or to assess yield components.
Being in contact with farmers means working with passionate people, in a very rich and diverse environment! Above all, it's a job that involves people and social, geopolitical, economic and climatic issues! We are guided by the general interest. As we have a wealth of technical data and references at our disposal, we can provide farmers with concrete solutions and adapt them to situations that vary widely from one production zone to another. It's a job that knows no routine".
