Faba bean, a versatile protein crop, offers interesting potential for diversifying crop rotation while improving soil fertility. To get the most out of this crop, it is essential to master the key cultivation techniques, to know how to anticipate major accidents and to understand the agronomic levers that influence yield and quality. This training course combines theoretical input and practical application to acquire operational expertise in faba beans.

Program:

Indoor:

  • Faba bean physiology and main factors influencing yield.

  • Decision-making rules for crop management: planting, choice of varieties, fertilization, weeding, phytosanitary protection, water management, regulation, harvesting and storage.

  • Analysis of economic and environmental performance.

  • Outlets and value-added production.

In the field (depending on the period):

  • Practical diagnosis of plots: identification of major accidents and observation of production levers.

  • Discussions on participants' practices and real-life situations.

At the end of the course, participants will be able to :

  • Recommend key cultivation techniques for a successful faba bean crop, from planting to harvest.

  • Diagnose major crop problems (pests, diseases, water stress, etc.).

  • Identify agronomic levers to optimize yield and quality.

  • Adjust fertilization and weed control to soil and climate conditions and production objectives.

  • Assess the crop's economic and environmental performance.

  • Understand possible outlets and value-adding issues.

Face-to-face format :

  • Theoretical input and case studies.

  • Observation and diagnosis in the field (depending on availability and time of year).

Active methods: presentations, discussions, case studies, applied diagnostics.

Evaluation: questions and answers, quizzes, self-assessment, individual satisfaction survey.

Theoretical support: presentations, lectures and handouts.

Case studies: real-life situations analyzed collectively.

Practical application in the field: diagnosis of plots accompanied by the trainer.

Interactivity: exchanges and feedback between participants and trainer.

Q&A, quiz, self-positioning, individual satisfaction survey.
