Terres Inovia is the benchmark technical institute for professionals in the plant oil and protein and hemp sectors.
Our mission is to contribute to improving the competitiveness of oilseed and hemp crops, through innovation and the guarantee of independent expertise at the service of producers. The European Carina project, in which Terres Inovia is involved, aims to promote the diversification of cropping systems with the introduction of oilseeds such as camelina.
Job presentation
Camelina is a hardy, low-input, short-cycle crop with interesting potential, particularly for use as a catch crop in cropping systems. Although there has been renewed interest in this crop in recent years, particularly in connection with the development of a biofuel industry, there is still a lack of available knowledge (technical and economic references, etc.).
Working at the interface between the agronomy, economics and environment department and the development team for the North and East zone, you will conduct studies into the technical feasibility and economic, agronomic and environmental benefits of including camelina in cropping systems.
Job duties
You will be involved in communicating technical results and supporting players in the field.
In addition, as part of the Carina project, you will be involved in exchanges with partners from European research institutes on these topics.
- Carry out studies on the technical feasibility of growing camelina as a catch crop: participate in the monitoring of farmer plots growing camelina as a catch crop, and analyze data from the monitoring of plots set up since 2023.
- Carry out a multi-criteria evaluation of scenarios for inserting camelina into cropping systems and analyze farmer survey data on the obstacles and levers to inserting camelina into their farms
- Identify and map areas favorable to camelina as a catch crop
- Participate in communicating results to stakeholders in the field.
Profile required
- An agri/agro engineer or equivalent, you have a sound knowledge of agronomy.
- You have the ability to analyze and synthesize information, and are keen to work in the field.
- Autonomy and rigor are essential for this mission
- Good command of English.
Conditions and benefits
- Executive status, 9-month fixed-term contract from 01/02/2026 to 31/10/2026, based in Thiverval-Grignon (78).
- Annual remuneration according to profile 40 to 44 K€ (including 13th month) in compliance with the chemical industries collective agreement.
- Institute benefits: luncheon vouchers paid 60% by the employer, low-cost health insurance, employee savings plan with annual employer contribution, profit-sharing and CSE benefits.
- You will be supervised by the Cropping Systems and Agronomy Research Manager in collaboration with the Development Engineer responsible for hemp and camelina.

Terres Inovia, the technical institute for the vegetable oil, protein and hemp sectors, is involved in the inter-institute Synergie Bio non Bio program, which aims to make the most of synergies in knowledge production between organic and non-organic systems.
Job presentation
As part of this program, we are focusing on assessing the resilience of organic and non-organic farms. What is resilience? It's the ability of a system to gradually recover from a hazard and regain its initial performance. The aim of the program is to gain a better understanding of how farms are impacted by various hazards (climatic, economic, health-related, etc.), and what factors would enable them to better adapt to and overcome them.
Initial work has been carried out to propose an evaluation method, as there is currently no consensual, standardized method.
The work proposed in this internship aims to continue the reflections already underway by tackling the evaluation of an initial case study (applying the method developed for the program). This case study will be made up of various fictitious farms representative of organic production systems, on which we will simulate the occurrence of two types of hazard (economic and climatic) and their impact on the socio-technical and economic performance of production systems.
Job duties
Evaluate the resilience of the production systems represented by the case studies to the occurrence of economic and climatic hazards. The results obtained will be used to formulate initial hypotheses as to the factors affecting the resilience of production systems, and to develop the method on the basis of feedback from experience.
- Literature review and interviews with experts to complement the proposed method with evaluation indicators on farmers' quality of life.
- Definition of evaluation scenarios to be applied to typical cases, including hazard scenarios (order and frequency of hazards).
- Evaluate the impact of hazards on the performance of case studies.
- Using a combination of different tools, assess the impact of hazard sequences on the socio-technical and economic performance of the different case studies.
- Analyze the variability of the performances obtained as a function of the hazards experienced.
- Summary of results
Profile required
- Student at engineering school or university (Master2) looking for a final year internship in plant production with an interest in organic production systems;
- Ability to write, analyze and summarize;
- Good command of Excel and knowledge of R software would be a plus.
A team of experts at Terres Inovia will answer all your questions and help you develop your skills;
A pleasant working environment, close to transport links and Paris;
Possibility of teleworking (in accordance with Terres Inovia's internal regulations).
