The regional project PARTAGE (Programme Agronomique Régional pour la Transition Agroécologique en Grand Est), supported by the PEI (1) and coordinated by the CRAGE (2), brings together 18 partners (3) to work, over a period of 3 years (Sept 2019-Sept 2022), to reduce nitrogen emissions, the main agricultural pollution, by sharing knowledge between agricultural stakeholders.

The objective is to activate the relevant levers to make cropping systems more autonomous in nitrogen and with less environmental impact.

Within PARTAGE, knowledge and levers will be identified, shared, adjusted and tested within a network of farmers (Living lab) to increase autonomy and have low losses.

Three thematic axes are identified :
1. better management of the mineral nitrogen supplied ;
2. strengthening the symbiotic nitrogen input through the presence of leguminous plants
3. recycling organic matter in the territories.

In this project, Terres Inovia participates in the sharing of knowledge acquired within the UMT Alter'N (4) concerning nitrogen losses linked to sources other than mineral nitrogen. In addition, as the pilot of axis 2, the institute contributes to the strategic reflections on how to best include legumes in future production systems:

- An agronomic diagnosis in agricultural plots to regain sufficient control over the performance of these crops, which have been severely tested by the increased climatic hazards of recent years (particularly in the spring when the yield components are formed);

An understanding of the nitrogen flows linked to these nitrogen-fixing crops within cropping systems, the reduction of nitrogen losses and the increase in the value of the services rendered by legumes for the reduction of inputs, the maintenance of the yields of the system's main crops, the reduction of GHGs and of air acidification, etc.

-Technical and economic studies to adapt the evolution of the systems by economically valuing the effects on agricultural production as well as amenities such as the reduction of nitrogen pollution (nitrate in water and ammonia and fine particles in the air) or the climate service (less GHG to mitigate climate change).
