Rapeseed and sunflower: the nutritional quality of oilcake

The nutrtional quality of rapeseed and sunflower cakes is carried out by Terres Inovia and its Interprofession Terres Univia. It is conducted with the crushing plants.

The collection of French rapeseed amounted to 3.2 million tons, 200,000 tons less than the previous campaign. Crushing plants still processed nearly 4.2 million tons of seeds thanks to continued imports of seeds, particularly from Canada. The production of rapeseed meal reached 2.4 million tons for an almost equivalent French consumption.

In addition, the report on the quality of sunflower meal notes that the collection of sunflower seeds amounted to 1.4 million tons. Crushing plants processed 1.2 million tons of seeds, 6% more than the previous campaign. Approximately 650,000 tons of sunflower meal for animal feed were thus produced, returning to the same level as the 2018/2019 campaign. Imports of oilcake reached 910,000 tonnes, two-thirds of which came from the Black Sea, for a total consumption of oilcake of around 1.5 million tonnes.
