Rapeseed varieties: new classifications available
Terres Inovia and its partners have tested rapeseed varieties in 2022-2023 and new classifications are available.
The new oilseed rape varieties registered in France are primarily evaluated in the Terres Inovia network. This network is made up of trials run by the institute and its partners. During the campaign, 45 varieties were evaluated in specific trials (pests, diseases, vigour and elongation) or in trials focusing on yield assessment.

New: a first classification for flea beetle larvae
After four years of study, a classification of rapeseed varieties against flea beetle larvae has been proposed. The evaluation method and results have been validated thanks to the large number of flea beetle larvae present and the greater number of trials carried out this year.
As with vigour, the classification with regard to flea beetle larvae is represented in the form of a score from 1 to 9 (1: poor behaviour and 9: very good behaviour). Two variables are assessed: the presence of flea beetle larvae in the variety (number of flea beetle larvae per plant) and the expression of flea beetle larvae symptoms (percentage of plants with apparent symptoms).
To date, there is insufficient data on terminal bud weevil larvae to establish such a classification. We can nevertheless assume that for a certain number of varieties, the behaviour is relatively similar.
