Lentil weed control : 120-day exemption NIRVANA S

The request for a 120-day derogation (art53 REG 1107/2009) submitted on January 27, 2025 by Terres Univia and Terres Inovia to the French Ministry of Agriculture has been approved.

The commercial specialty NIRVANA S therefore benefits from a derogatory use for the 2025 campaign (from March 15 to July 13, 2025) for lentils within the vegetable legumes (dry)*weed control use.

NIRVANA S is then registered for use in 2 (pre-emergence then post-emergence) or 3 applications (pre-emergence then post-emergence split into two applications) at a maximum cumulative dose of 2.2 l/ha. The maximum application stage is BBCH 16 (6 leaves) and the pre-harvest interval (PHI) is 63 days. We recommend not exceeding the post-emergence dose of 0.5 l/ha and splitting the post-emergence application into 2 applications of 0.25 l/ha.

Warning: Contrary to the conditions for strict pre-emergence use of the speciality, the DGAL stipulates in the context of this derogation .

not to apply this product to artificially drained soils with a clay content equal to or greater than 45%.

All other conditions remain unchanged.

As each production basin has its own specific problems, we strongly recommend that you contact your usual field operator before any intervention on your crop.

Possible risks of settling/discoloration in vegetation cannot be ruled out, and the use of NIRVANA S should be based on a priority infestation such as stinging nettle or wild buckwheat under heavy pressure. As this use was obtained at the request of Terres Univia and Terres Inovia to overcome technical impasses, the company declines all responsibility for any risks of selectivity.

Apply NIRVANA S alone (combinations not recommended) after emergence to dry vegetation in good vegetative condition (no water stress or deficiencies). Application will be effective on young weeds, 2-3 leaves maximum.

As a reminder, the following are authorized for post-emergence use on lentils:

CHALLENGE 600: authorized for post-emergence at 1 l/ha/year (the total pre-emergence + post-emergence dose must be 4 l/ha maximum) - application between the 4 and 7-leaf stage. Can be split into a maximum of 2 applications of 0.5 l/ha per application.
LENTAGRAN: authorized at 2 kg/ha/year (full dose not recommended due to lack of selectivity) - post-emergence application up to BBCH 33 stage (formation of 3rd internode), divisible into 2 applications.
- Tip: 2 applications at 0.5 kg/ha per application, 8-10 days apart. Can be mixed with CHALLENGE 600 at 0.5 l/ha.
- Caution: lack of selectivity may sometimes occur depending on application conditions and lentil growth.
NIRVANA S: authorized for post-emergence use at 0.5 l/ha. Maximum pre-emergence + post-emergence accumulation of 2 l/ha/year - application between 2 and 6 leaf stage. Can be split into 2 or 3 applications (including pre-emergence).
- Recommendation: 2 applications of 0.25 l/ha per application, 8-10 days apart.
CORUM: not recommended due to lack of selectivity on lentil.
